Q: What happens if the damage is not your fault?
A. If the damage on your auto glass or windshield is the result of an accident and it was not your fault, the insurance of the other driver will have to cover your cost. Most insurance companies do not count auto glass damage as a claim on your policy. You should ask your insurance agent or refer to your policy to obtain your benefits.
Q: Do my auto insurance rates go up?
A. Many people believe their insurance rates will go up if they turn in the glass claim to their auto insurance. In our experience, most insurance companies won’t raise your rates because of a glass claim. However, if you are concerned, you should call your agent and see what they say. If we determine that you don’t have to replace the entire windshield, many of the big auto insurance carriers will waive the deductible and pay for the entire repair.
Q: What if my deductible comes out to be more or the same as the auto glass service?
A. We recommend a cost-effective experience, in which it would be better to pay out of your pocket under such circumstances because paying out of your pocket will cost less than the deductible. Either way, we will always be there to determine the best option for you.
Q: If my windshield is repaired instead of replaced, will all insurance companies waive my deductible?
A. Most insurance companies waive windshield repair to 100% with no deductible.

Had a terrible experience with Safelite 2 days before shipping my vehicle overseas. Made an appointment 2 weeks ago and dropped off. The part they had was “broken.” This left me with less than 24 hours to get my windshield replaced or could not ship vehicle. I asked Safelite if they had any available in the DC area and they said they didn’t which I find hard to believe for such a large company (2020 Honda Odyssey). I called Empire Glass and they bent over backwards to work with me. I got my windshield replaced first thing the next morning and huge stress relief. The team was courteous, quick, and professional. I will go back to them for glass needs in the future and highly recommend!
